Astrology is a rich and complex field, providing profound insights into various aspects of life. Among the numerous yogas described in classical texts, lunar yogas hold a special place due to the Moon's significant influence in a horoscope. The Moon, often equated to a queen when the Sun is considered the king, is a natural benefic that governs intelligence, the mind, and maternal aspects. Its placement and interactions in the birth chart can significantly impact an individual's life.
In one of my previous article, I discussed Kemdruma Yoga. In this article, we will delve into other lunar yogas as detailed in Chapter 39 of Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra.
Key Slokas from Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra
1. Influence of Houses on Wealth and Intelligence: The native's wealth, intelligence, and skill vary based on the Moon's position relative to the Sun in Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th), Panaphara (2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th), or Apoklima (3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th) houses. They will be respectively little, middling, and excellent.
2. Wealth and Happiness from Navamsa: For day births, if the Moon is in its own Navamsa or in a friend's Navamsa and aspected by Jupiter, the native will have wealth and happiness. For night births, if the Moon is similarly placed but aspected by Venus, similar results occur.
3. Benefic planets from 8th, 6th, and 7th Houses: The native could become a king, minister, or army chief depending on the strength of the benefic planets placed in these houses from the Moon. Benefic planets include Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury. For instance, in Sir Sam Manekshaw’s D-10 chart, Jupiter and Mercury in the 6th house from the Moon, and Venus exchanging houses with the Sun in the 7th, gave pronounced effects.
4. Benefic planets in Upachaya Houses: If all benefic planets are in the Upachaya houses (3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th) from the Moon, the native will be extremely wealthy.
5. Planets in 2nd and 12th Houses: Three distinct yogas form when planets occupy the 2nd or 12th, or both 2nd and 12th houses from the Moon. The Sun, Rahu, and Ketu are generally excluded from these yogas. These configurations can bestow the native with extreme wealth, virtue, and material pleasures.
Absence of any planets in the 2nd, 12th, and with the Moon results in Kemdruma Yoga, which is highly inauspicious. I have discussed Kemdruma Yoga in detail in my previous article.
Conclusion
Lunar yogas offer fascinating insights into how the Moon's placement and its interactions with other planets influence various aspects of life. By understanding these yogas, astrologers can provide more accurate predictions and guidance. Whether it’s the promise of wealth, intelligence, or status, the Moon's role in shaping our destiny is undeniable. As we continue to explore the depths of astrology, lunar yogas remain a critical area for understanding the celestial influences on our lives.
